1099 Filing Deadline January 31, 2019

1099-MISC Forms must be filed with the IRS on or before Thursday, January 31, 2019 if reporting non-employee compensation payments in box 7.  Box 7 is typically used to report payments made to independent contractors.

The filing deadline for all other 1099 types is February 28, 2019 if you file on paper, or by April 1, 2019 if you file electronically. The due dates for furnishing payee statements for all types of 1099 forms remains January 31, 2019.

Penalties for late filing range from $30 - $100/form; penalties for intentional disregarding the requirement are $250/form.
