1099 Filing Deadline January 31, 2018
1099-MISC Forms must be filed with the IRS on or before Wednesday, January 31, 2018; if reporting non-employee compensation payments in box 7. Box 7 is typically used to report payments made to independent contractors.
The filing deadline for all other 1099 types is February 28, 2018, if you file on paper, or by March 31, 2018, if you file electronically. The due dates for furnishing payee statements for all types of 1099 forms remains January 31, 2018.
Penalties for late filing range from $30 - $100/form; penalties for intentional disregarding the requirement are $250/form.
